I hired Blacksburg Law after procrastinating about my and my husband's estate planning and medical directives for over a decade. I had previously met an attorney in LA when we were doing the estate plans for my parents so I had a baseline of expectation. However, Blacksburg was clearly superior to the o the other firm for several reasons:

1) Their knowledge about estate law, advice on legacy planning, and education about how the various documents fit together to create belts and suspenders for honoring our wishes in the event of our passing (and avoid probate);
2) The level of handholding and conscientiousness they exercised when working with us. My husband and I are very busy (he's a physician and I'm a tech executive) and needed someone to just guide us through the process. It was clear they have done this so many times and have identified the processes/methods that make the most sense to do this efficiently and as pain-free as possible. Natalie Carrera (their paralegal) in particular was EXTRAORDINARILY detail-oriented, responsive, and pleasant to work with. We scheduled an additional time to bang out a list of questions we had (i.e. help us decipher the legalese) and she had a list of answers all compiled from Michael ready for us to go. I work with many lawyers/paralegals and told her she is one of the most thorough I have ever met in my career based on just our short interaction. Very user friendly and helpful!
3) While I had received a lower quote from another firm, Michael and his team made us feel like this is a relationship that will extend past the execution of the documents. I know if I needed to get time to clarify something, they would be responsive. It was less transactional and I quickly realized I am paying for the white glove service they offer, which was worth it to me and my partner for such an important set of documents.

All around, very impressed. We have one last call with Michael before this process is complete, which is to go through and transfer assets over to our revocable trust and tie up any loose ends. Highly recommend them.

What I like about Michael and his team is that they explain everything clearly, are patient, their communication is very clear, and I can always get a response, usually within a few hours or at most a few days (if they are on vacation). Also, they are bonafide experts who can help you navigate both the legal and the tax consequences of the decisions you need to make (Michael will connect you with the right experts if you need them). I felt like I was in very good hands, and Michael and his team did all the heavy lifting for me to create the Trust that I wanted.
