I filed out the application on line. The next morning the nicest lady called back and took my information. She was thorough, professional and knowledgeable.
Two days later, the attorney called back.
What a relief. I was given sound educated advise that answered my questions. I felt assured and represented. Great experience.!!

My name is Chester. Middlebrooks every time I call I get no help because they are non profit you have to be evicted and not paying rent to get help my land had done fraud in the inducement of a contract failed to fix house that I fixed . I have receipts of up paid utility bills I paid. I can't get any help bringing them to court. The landlord even shut the water off that's retaliation . my rent is paid up this is absurd the black lady at the front desk after I got my appointment to bring in my documents she was like that alot of paper work meaning it's too much if they need to see my receipts for a year and for 20 k worth of damages what you expect the proof of burden is on me and I have an alarming amount of evidence . Walter clapp the next day called and said pickup my papers . After I drove 100 miles to bring them there . I brought them so I don't bombard their email address . Emails only allows so much to be sent at once and fax the photos will be muddy . I have worked hard to show my case is not frivolous work with me . The problem I'm having is lawyers want 3500 retainer fee none of the programs Im on allows me to have assets over 2000$ so how am I able to get a lawyer I got the judge to waive court fees but If i don't know what to do does that matter and the court staff tell me to contact mtsla or hire a lawyer if I could hire a lawyer why would I ask the court to waive the fees 🤦🏽‍♂️ the whole system is messed up so because I'm disabled I get less representation not fair because the rules of dpphs is you cant have over 2 k in assets that means I could never save for effective representation and the statue of limitations is only for so long .I left my paper work so on april 9 when we meet again on tge phobe he can follow along with whats going how will he be able to do that with him asking me to pick them up. They are the pro bono lawyer office for the area and I can't get help I gotta be a drunk and be on drugs and evicted to get help this the second time I m getting no help

After over two years of slogging through the "best" lawyers Montana had to offer, and after over two years of feeling like I was never allowed to have a meaningful conversation without first paying an oversized "retainer fee" (what I was "retaining"... I'm not sure), and out of pure desperation, I finally reached out to MLS.
The voice on the other end of the phone couldn't have been more helpful and informed. She put me in touch with a fantastic public defender... and the rest is history. He told me where to go, the forms to fill out, and gave me ALL the information I needed to complete my (turns out, relatively simple) task.
I couldn't be more thankful! I only wish that my cellphone battery hadn't died towards the end of my conversation.
MASSIVE THANKS again, Montana Legal Services! I should have gone to you first!

Well I was under the impression that we actually got an attorney through the MLSA, but come to find out you only get a 10-minute consultation with an attorney. So that bummed me out. But I am appreciative that. I got speak with one atleast.

Knowledge starts at the front desk. After a short questionnaire, they can point you in the right direction. Staff is very easy to talk to and friendly. It doesn't take long for them to understand your needs and give you an answer.

They Got Back To Me Fast, Everyone Was Really Nice That Worked There But The Only Thing I Was Not Happy With Is The Fact That They Only Gave Me A Half Hour To Speak With An Attorney. I Remember Back In The Day, Years Back, When Legal Services Used To Provide You With A Free Attorney That Helped You From The Beginning To The End. That Was Awesome. What Happened To That? This New System ( A Half Hour) Really Doesn't Even Give You Enough Time To Speak About Your Case.
