I reached out to The Gonzalez Law Group in Houston to inquire about setting up a consultation and was initially told by the receptionist that I could go ahead and schedule one. After providing all of the requested information, I was placed on a brief hold—only to be told, “I spoke with the attorney and we can’t help you.”

Naturally, I asked for clarification—Why not? Which attorney made that decision?—but was met with a vague and dismissive response: “No reason was given, it was just a no.”

While I fully understand that private businesses have the right to refuse service, it’s incredibly unprofessional to market consultation services to prospective clients, lead them through the intake process, and then flatly refuse assistance without so much as an explanation—wasting people’s time in the process. This experience left a bad impression, and I would caution others to consider that before reaching out.

I am sharing my real experience with the Gonzalez Law Group to help others make a more informed decision when hiring a lawyer. This firm has proven to be incredibly unprofessional and shows no genuine care for their clients.

The care they “provide” is without a doubt horrible. The attorney assigned to my case (Chloe Martinez) was completely unresponsive, often taking four weeks or more to reply to emails. When I tried to address these issues and terminate my agreement with them the department supervisor, who is supposed to help resolve client disputes, was equally dismissive and unhelpful.

They don’t pay attention to critical details in cases, which is unacceptable for something as serious requiring legal assistance. Their lack of diligence causes immense stress.

Despite charging me a significant amount of money, they refused to refund unearned fees for services that were never provided. When I asked them to provide proof of how the money was spent on my case, they failed to do so. Instead, they are making the entire process of disputing this frustrating and exhausting. It’s clear they are holding onto unearned fees without justification, which is unethical and unprofessional.

Additionally, I noticed that many of their five-star reviews come from profiles that have only contributed one review to Google My Business. This raises serious questions about the legitimacy of these reviews and whether they accurately reflect real client experiences.

This law firm does not prioritize its clients or their cases. They are unresponsive, inattentive to crucial details, and unethical in retaining fees for work that was never done.

If you want lawyers who are responsive, professional, and trustworthy, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. My experience with the Gonzalez Law Group has been an absolute nightmare, and I would never recommend them to anyone.

This firm is an absolute nightmare. Christina Gardner and her team are negligent, dishonest, and completely disregard their clients. They repeatedly failed to communicate, missed deadlines, overlooked key documents I had already provided, and then had the audacity to charge me to fix their own mistakes. After I fired them in October because by definition Christina Gardner and her team do NOT operate in good faith, I was told —on a recorded call and sent a follow up email so it would be in writing—that I would receive a credit on my invoice to remove some of the improper fees, that all withdrawal-related fees would be waived, and that I wouldn’t be charged further. Instead, I’ve been hit with unexplained invoices while being locked out of my account, making it impossible to even see what I’m being billed for. Despite months of follow-ups, no one has refunded my money, contacted me, or provided proof of these bogus charges. I have now spent more money fighting with this firm than I did on my actual case. Their incompetence and unethical billing practices are beyond unacceptable—do not trust them with your legal matters.
