I had to have a public defender assigned to me when I was younger, my first public defender was a great lady who was ready and willing to fight my case and prove my innocence. The next day she came back and I was told she was being removed from my case because she had proven to be "To personally involved". The state then assigned me a new public defender who straight out told me he did not want to fight my case and that I should just plead guilty. This same public defender then proceeded to make decisions in court without consulting me and even went so far as to refuse to look at the evidence of my innocence and not tell me about my court appointments. If you need someone to represent you in court, just spend the money or if you have to go into debt to a real lawyer. It's better than going to jail for something you can be proven innocent of.

The Alaska Public Defender Agency does a great job considering its budgetary constraints. They provide more bang for the buck than private counsel, in my experience.

The problems Jeremy Ward talks about are not problems with the Alaska Public Defender Agency. They are problems with our society and government as a whole, caused largely by the breakdown of morals and the extended family. Don't criticize the agency with their finger in the dike trying to hold off the overwhelming flood of dysfunctional people. Criticize what caused that flood. And DO something about it. Volunteer!

A fast-paced intelligent public defender agency that holds nothing back.

With an understanding of their clients, the Alaska Public Defender Agency manages to match its high concept with authentic action and a touching approach. The attorneys push somber scenarios and just-the-facts cases as close to pure explication as possible. The end results of such action delivers a legal marvel that is overflowing with brilliance and splendor.

One enticement offered by the Agency is a bevy of talented attorneys and staff. Among the standouts here are Benjamin Dresner and John Zelinsky. Attorney Dresner is at the top of his game, delivering sensible and zealous advocacy while also maintaining a calmly insistent moral clarity, earned though his patient empathy. Likewise, Attorney Zelinsky exceeds expectations through his dutiful and tactile solicitation, and manages to move the most obstinate courts from their fallacious constitution.

The Agency embraces all that is sublime in its incomparable staff, for the Bard could have no other in mind when he wrote “By how much unexpected, by so much We must awake endeavour for defence; For courage mounteth with occasion.”

The verdict is in: 12-0 in favor of the Alaskan Public Defenders.

Prime example of how the income bracket dictates innocense or guilt. Two set of laws in this country without a doubt. One for the rich and one for the poor. These should be ashamed of the way they conduct business. Broken system

These people are hard at work keeping the state honest when they try to convict the wrong person. God bless these people for what they do; they saved my life.

Public defender Melissa Morgans appears completely uninterested in hearing from MD with important medical information that will vitally assist her client.
