Really poor experience working with EMG on the sale of two homes and purchase of our new property. The conveyancing team are hugely overworked to the point where the vast majority of our transaction was not handled with or dealt with by the solicitor and unfair pressure is put on individuals who don't necessarily have the experience when things get tricky. We chose EMG knowing we were paying a premium but with several recommendations from friends and family we expected a premium service - unfortunately the opposite is true. The key issue here was communication (or lack of) which, front and centre of the website is supposedly one of EMG's strengths. Multiple issues throughout including missing a payment we had made two weeks prior (causing a two week delay) which lead to us being homeless and perhaps most shockingly realising after we completed that they had lost the signed copy of our mortgage deed - how we were able to complete without this is beyond me. I felt for the vast majority of time I was the only one keeping on top of the transaction or chasing the other side. On two occasions we raised issues with the Head of Residential conveyancing but have had no response. In the interest of being balanced we were really pleased with the efforts of our solicitor close to completion after some complex issues arose but unfortunately by that point it was too late in the day.

The purchase was not easy due to a ‘Land registry amendment’ and we eventually completed on Friday. Appointment attended today at the Gosforth EMG solicitors office. I have never felt so embarrased, and upset (as paying a client) than I did in my appointment today. The allocated solicitor had not sent me an email asking for initial payment despite having my email and other staff making 3 phone calls to me to set up the appointment. I was then told when the meeting broke down as the solicitor had not read any information I had sent him that he did not think I would pay him anyway. Appalling practice and discrimination.

EMG represented my ex wife during children's arrangements and finances, both requiring the input of the family court. Julia's Middleton's work was of a very poor standard, she seems not to know who the respondent or applicant was, she was inconsistent with salary information, using my ex wife's net salary and my gross salary, she struggled to fill in court paper work so my solicitor had to correct her many errors. Julia also seemed to not understand how to calculate equity in a property.

My outcome in both issues was better than I expected, so I should really thank Julia as it would appear that for all of Julia's input she failed to achieve anything.

I couldn’t recommend Baljinder Gadi, Michelle Maberly and the team at EMG Gosforth more highly. The communication during the sale of my house was excellent with really fast responses to emails and telephone calls. Paperwork was dealt with quickly and efficiently, and the whole process was pain free! The initial conveyancing quote was so much cheaper than the solicitor recommended by the estate agent and the final bill was spot on.
