I posted my house in NY for sale by owner while I was living out of state and had active renters. Due to my inexperience in selling a property I went in and out of contract 3 times before one finally stuck. I was the seller of my house and retained Chris Coiro as my real estate closing attorney. Chris was extremely professional and I felt very confident with him handling my closing. I had an issue with the buyer demanding that closing take place on or before the date. I needed the extra days and told Chris that I was in my house for 30 years and didn’t think I could get it done that fast. Chris suggested that we give 30 days five days after buyer wanted by giving buyer on or about October 15, which actually gave me 30 days and the extra time I needed to close. My husband and I used Chris for our closing. In order to close the seller had to put a small amount of money in escrow. The seller never cleaned out the house and we had to call 1-800-GOT-JUNK. After submitting the receipt the seller didn’t want to release the money. Needless to say 10 months later we still never received the money and we never heard from Chris again.
