Our family worked with Elena for over a year, and cannot recommend her and the firm highly enough. We're located in an area where finding a reputable attorney with experience in education law is near impossible. After 2+ years struggling with our child's school it became clear we needed legal representation.

Initially, we outreached Disability Law Colorado, but they didn't grasp the gravity of our situation.We sought advocates through ARC, who either abandoned us or couldn't participate due to conflicts of interest with the school. One of the biggest impacts Elena helped us through was the right to IEEs. For years the school administered inappropriate evaluations that didn't reflect our child's needs, even though we requested to explore more areas than the District was willing to identify. Elena helped us obtain IEEs funded by the District, performed by third-party qualified professionals. These evaluations finally gave us a clear picture of our child, and were crucial to identifying appropriate support services (in school and at home).

What also stood out was the support from the firm. If Elena was unavailable (which was rare), Anjanette and Kate jumped in quickly. In one instance, Elena was away and an MDR scheduled with a 1-day notice. Kate was able to catch up on the case and attend to ensure our child's rights were upheld. The seamless teamwork spoke volumes about their dedication, even when dealing with a very challenging school.

Elena's balance of professionalism, compassion, and realism was appreciated. Many times we felt overwhelmed, and Elena helped us navigate the legal bounds. She was straightforward, explaining legal limitations, helping us tailor our approach and expectations. Instead of sugar-coating things, Elena kept things realistic, empowering us to advocate more effectively within the system. Elena helped us stay grounded, focused, and presented us with all options that would act in the best interest of our child. We were confident in her guidance and that helped us maintain steam. We faced major roadblocks from the school, and without Elena, it's likely we would have been stuck in a never-ending cycle of frustration and intimidation.

Ultimately, we felt the investment was well worth it, as we are finally in a place where we understand our child's needs.

There were times we considered homeschool, as our efforts to advocate for our child alone were getting us nowhere; but now that we've reached this point, we know the right choice for our child and family was the pursuits we took on with Elena's help.
