I originally hired farid Seyyedi to handle my moms probate case. Farid was AMAZING, he was a straight shooter and was on top of my case. Unfortunately, Farid had some sort of life situation come up which resulted in him leaving Colorado. I then stayed with Burnham Law and started working with James McQuade. I knew during our first call the representation was not going to be as good as Farid’s. Halfway through the call James was like “Oh ya, now I know who you are” he did not even take the time to get caught up on my case before taking it. Over the next few weeks, James would ignore emails and after we would agree on getting work done, he would not actually do any of the work. This resulted in me having to send many additional emails for follow up. I did reach out and complain to Burnham Law about this. At first, I was hopeful this behavior would change. Burnham law Brought in an attorney named Ali Vandenberg to help James with my case. Probate was not Ali’s area. However, she was prompt with communication, and she did get the motion for a special administrator done.

Then I got an email saying Burnham Law had Hired Faith Betz to help James since his case load was so high and couldn’t manage all his cases. Faith Betz scheduled a video call with me and told me she was not going to be charging me to get “caught up on my case as it was not my fault.” I met with Faith one time over google meets and two days after that one meeting I was sent a bill for over one thousand dollars. That was not including our one and only google meets meeting. Some of the charges where for work that James and I had already agreed not to do nor did she mention this work during our meeting. She also charged an hour to prepare before our meeting along with adding a bunch of other people to work on my case. None of which was discussed with me. I did complain about this to Burnham Law and was met with Silence. Faith said that she did not submit the motion she had worked out without my consent she would reimburse me. She never submitted it and I also told her to stop working on my case and I hired another attorney again, this was all two days after our one and only meeting. Then the following week Faith and Burnham Law sent me another Bill with over 2500 on new charges that were completely unreasonable and unjustified. When I complained to Burnham Law again about this. I got a call from James McQuade. James McQuade had said that these charges where unreasonable and that he would take care of it. However, Burnham Law decided to wave the over 2500 in new charges, but kept the over 1000 that they had already taken out of my retainer.

If you are hiring an attorney, you are already in a stressful situation. I hope that my experience can help you find an attorney and Law Firm that doesn’t create even more stress. I also hope you choose to support a business that treats there clients better. After all, if a business is going to charge thousands of dollars for work that in most cases is deserved. Shouldn’t they have high expectations for there attorneys to do the jobs they take and not robe clients by creating false work. This whole situation should never have happened. If this is happening to someone reading this. Please know you can dispute fees and report this behavior with the Colorado Bar association. Please run as fast as you can from Faith Betz. She is a complete con artist, and I am so thankful my interactions with her were only once.
