As someone who was unexpectedly targeted by Higbee & Associates, I feel compelled to share my distressing encounter with this aggressive firm. Their tactics are nothing short of predatory and emotionally manipulative, leaving individuals feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable.

This firm operates more like legal predators than legitimate copyright defenders. Their business model seems designed to capitalize on intimidation and fear, targeting individuals who may lack a clear understanding of their rights or the intricacies of copyright law.

Higbee & Associates has earned a notorious reputation as a "copyright troll" law firm, with numerous reports of negative experiences from individuals who, like me, were contacted over alleged copyright infringement.

The experience is both stressful and intimidating. The firm typically sends threatening letters that cite potential statutory damages of up to $150,000, even for minor infractions. This approach is misleading, as such high damages are extremely rare and often not applicable in most cases. Their suggested settlement amounts are clearly inflated, exploiting individuals' fear of legal consequences to coerce payment.

If you’ve received one of their letters, do not panic or immediately pay. Take the time to carefully verify their claims and consult with an independent attorney to understand your rights and options.

Alright so a few months back, I posted a review with what was going on with my case. I gave this firm a 1 star because of the lack of communication and how they treated my case. I recieved a call from one of their employees claiming that I made a nasty review and that if I took down my last review and paid the rest of my bill, they would continue working on my case even though payment hadnt been fully paid. So of course I did what they said. Set up a payment plan, made a payment, and took down the review. Well I finally got word that after 8 months, the judge finally approved the paperwork and what not. As i was reading the paperwork filed by this firm and everything, i noticed that the judge had made a decision on my case back in may of 2024. This whole time, they had already received the judges decision and yet they kept telling me that Riverside court was backed up. I began paying for their services in march of 2024. Everytime i asked for updates, i was told the courthouse was busy and so on.
So am I happy with the choice I made? No because I rather have a firm be honest and say look you haven't made a payment so WE are delaying it not the courthouse. What really upset me was recieveing the phone call and then recieveing the paperwork and everything and seeing that the judge had made a decision on my case as of may 2024. It wasnt until Sept/October i was notified of the judges ruling on my expungment.
Also, really messed up that I put down my experience with this firm and I get a call saying that I posted a nasty review, which actually was explaining my situation and me being honest about falling behind on the payments.
So does this firm get the job done? Yes they do. But it's on their terms and be prepared to recieve a call if you write a review that just isn't what they like.

I'm a small black-owned business owner with a very small blog that has little traffic, and I have been harassed endlessly by this firm. They deserve to be put out to pasture for the terrible, dishonest extortionist ways. I plan to report them for discrimination. They're horrible and have no morals

Higbee & Associates is not a good firm at all. I tried to seal a minor case with them in the state of New York. They gave me a monthly payment. When I told them that I would like to pay in full, so, my case can start and finish sooner, they said no. It has to be in installment. Why? your guess is as good as mine. After I waited for almost 2 years and we went to court their attorney was not ready. Not only my seal was denied but the wait for almost 2 years was completely unnecessary. The only good thing they have is that they answer your emails within 48 hours. Don't hire them unless you want to waste money and time.

Scammers. My business was sent two copyright infringement notices for images used on a resale website that we have no control over or affiliation with (the site features a play on my business name and uses my business's contact info). When I called to inform them they sent the notices to the wrong party, I was told we're still responsible for the infringement and we need to pay up. Totally uprofessional on the phone and 100% a shakedown firm.

This law firm is very good at protecting their clients' copyrights from those out there in the world that want to take advantage of individual artists' intellectual property. They are courteous, professional and fair. I would highly recommend retaining their services.

Higbee & Associates helped me tremendously getting a 1980s felony marijuana conviction changed to a misdemeanor therefore enabling restoration of my gun rights. All personnel who contacted me were very courteous and helpful. When I had questions or needed clarification they were very responsive. The meetings by phone meeting appointment worked out very well. I was always able to set a convenient time same or next day. Pricing I thought was quite reasonable considering the service I received, personal representation in the court, etc. I waited a couple months before writing this review because I wanted to be sure that it was actually true that my state felony re-designation was recognized and cleared federally and in the other state I now reside. I can happily report now that my background check is completely clean. I am enjoying my full rights restored. Happy customer!
