I used Angie for almost a year, I was appointed her. She never kept in contact with me unless I contacted her, and still it would take days to hear a response. She never showed up for meetings to represent me. In court she barley represented me, she would only agree to what other attorneys would suggest. I would not use her for anything in the future and do NOT recommend her to anyone!

I don’t know if I should even be reviewing Mrs. Slaten but I can attest that she has a great work ethic. I have personally saw her over 10 years pour her self into her cases to get the outcome she desired. The only issue I see is that she has a way of making her mind up and making sure she gets the answers she wants that will make her succeed. The judge in this area has a good relationship with his Area attorneys Angie has worked hard to gain the trust of the courts and that relationship can benefit you if you are a parent trying to get custody after a divorce. I do warn that if you are facing her on the other side in a court case hire yourself a great attorney from Pell City or do whatever you can to have the case moved to another far away county. In the event you are going to have to fight DHR this is a case you will not win if she is your guardian ad-lidem Like I said she is good at what she does and you will not win you will find yourself alone and praying that your kids will come see you when they are adults. I came home from hunting with my son and picking my girls up from school to DHR on my porch. You are not innocent until proven guilty you are the opposite we were told it would be a weekend. It turned out to be 10 years and I still pray my youngest will get to spend his teen years at home because my daughter has already moved out of the family’s home she was placed with and she will hate us forever all kids know is we left they don’t know anything else. Angie did her best to do what she felt was the kids best interest and once she found out what they had to say at 4 & 7 years old she hasn’t wavered from that. I was a monster and could never prove otherwise. The judge said almost those exact words. I promise you won’t get a fair chance in court but Mrs. Slaten will do what’s best for your children it may not be the outcome you want but the kids will be happy. Unless they want to come home then they keep them long enough that they change their minds.
