When I arrived in Chandra Miller’s office, I had been separated for several years after a 20-year marriage in which my husband had handled all the finances. I was paralyzed by sadness and fear about my future. The one attorney I had previously consulted looked over my paperwork (two marital agreements drawn up by my ex-husband’s trust attorney) shook her head and said, “This is very unusual,” which I already knew. What I needed was someone with the fortitude and knowledge to guide me through a contentious divorce.

Thankfully, Chandra turned out to be just that person. Right off the bat, she told me I was in for a tough fight, she was up for it, and she would not fight harder for me than I fought for myself. Chandra treated me not as a case but as a person, which meant that when the divorce was final I was left with not just a financial settlement and support (both of which I was very happy with) but the means to manage my new life. During the divorce process, she brought in a financial analyst to help us come up with a realistic settlement amount and introduced me to a trust attorney, both of whom I continue to consult today. Furthermore, Chandra has been extremely responsive and helpful when issues arise around enforcement of the marital settlement agreement. And she did all of this in a very cost-effective way, not only helping us stay out of a lengthy and very expensive court battle, but always being conscious of her own fees. Retaining Chandra as my divorce attorney will undoubtedly remain one of the best investments I will ever make.

When I was 17 years old, Chandra spoke at my high school and discussed career pathways in law. I remember she had a calm demeanor and smiled a lot. Chandra has an incredible warmth, which made it easy for us as students to ask lots of questions. Because of this, I felt comfortable enough to reach out to her and ask for help with my high school senior project. She was friendly and open and willing. And looking back (being 31 now and well into my career) she must’ve been beyond busy. While I have never been a client of hers - I can speak to her practice, because out of utter kindness, she gave me the time of day to show me her office, and even take me to the courthouse she worked at, through Senate Judiciary meetings at the Capitol, and thoroughly talk me through her line of work. I retained Chandra Miller for a post judgement modification of spousal support. Chandra was not my Attorney during the divorce. This was about ten years after the divorce and following my retirement. I had been very nervous as you never know how the California family court will decide. My ex was very much in favor of me paying until they kicked dirt on me.
My ex and I are both in different states now so that also complicated things. During the initial phone conversation, Chandra was very honest and said she had never handled an out of state judgement modification but she would figure it out. I couldn’t get an attorney in my state that wanted to take on the case. That was a very lucky chain of events for me! Oh yea, let’s throw in the Covid nonsense with courts closed.
Chandra and Katie were very calming and kept me informed. Chandra listened to what I had to say and would give me options and advise. As it turns out, VERY sound advice. The opposing attorney who had represented my ex in the initial divorce had me worried. She was tough and combative.
I feel Chandra was as fair as she could be with the billing. Anything that she could have her assistant do, she did. Attorneys are not cheap, but when they work efficiently, it saves a lot of money. Chandra was outstanding.

Where to begin… First, Chandra Miller and her law office exemplify what professionalism and good people are all about. When I came in, Chandra simply listened to my case and provided very clear avenues to pursue molding what my case would become in front of my eyes depending on the choices I would make. Chandra’s precision to thumb through her legal Rolodex in her mind as I shared my plight only solidified my own personal perception of her intelligence and communication skills. Further, I received the referral to Chandra which painted her in that same light where she knows her stuff and knows how to use it. I came in very upset because my daughter’s health and safety were being jeopardized and I needed to immediately address the issues that occurred that would warrant a change in custody, visitation, and child support. Chandra offered different options to approach my case engaged and eager to fight for my visitation and custody rights for the benefit of my daughter. That’s the thing, you see. She immediately cared. I saw it in her eyes. My daughter came first, no matter what. She communicated clearly and precisely the steps we needed to take. My gut told me I was in good hands.

The one thing I had that most don’t do was the fact I came in very prepared and Chandra loved that. I had documents, pictures, and, more importantly, I wrote down everything that happened to my daughter and me during our ordeal with her mother. In addition, I knew what I wanted in the modification to change my current stipulation. As a result, Chandra didn’t have to “build” the case as I already had done most of the leg work. Chandra’s patience and strong command of the process provided me the necessary arena and tools for me to have a strong case. What was really amazing in all this was that Chandra found creative ways to address certain issues to the point it truly saved me money in attorney’s fees because she worked directly with my ex’s attorney to avoid going to court. As a direct result of that, my daughter is living with me, she’s going through reunification counseling with her mother, and she’s in a much better place because of Chandra.

By the way, make sure to have a copy of your court documents and a plan of what you want to do so that she can jump right in and fight for you.

With all that, I highly recommend Chandra Miller as a family court attorney. You will not find a more professional, trustworthy, hard-working, intelligent, client-devout family attorney. More importantly though is that Chandra Miller is good to the core. She’s definitely someone I would recommend having on your side. She will fight for you.
