I have a wrongful evicted. I tried contact legal aid for 10 days the 10 day someone answered. Legal aid officer told me she recognize my name or number and she will personally make sure someone gets back in touch with me before 4:00 the next day. It never happened. I went down to the office filled out an application in person and received a phone call back the same day. For the last 30 days my water has been turned off multiple times. My landlord through all my belongings outside changed locks & needed police to let me back in my home. A month prior my landlord motorcycle ram into the side of truck causing $6000 to 9000 in damages my insurance company sends him my noninsured bill (cap) of 3,500 my notice to vacate came a few days after. After looking up wrongful evictions and all the drama it causes tenants legal aid still cannot help me I was told to take it up in small claims which the burden this is causes is far more than small claims get handled Legal aid rates zero in my book. I was on the opposite end being a landlord and my tenant got two extra months for the same situation but all I did was go to the house she said I was harassing her.

Guess it depends on what Your there for? In Hindsight on a long running case. I think I would have selected Attorneys who had a little Skin in the Gzme. And it is a Game. A Very Serious. Don't waste your time. Game with lifelong consequences . As the Client in their Game. You may be the Only One walking away with ? Nothing? Rest Assured every other Player is being well compensated to participate . From Vocational "Expert" to a "Doctor " who gives ten minutes Mental Health Exams . That Doctor Credential can be tricky. He may have written a Thesis on Philosophy? That makes Him a Doctor. I really did not come away with the same attitude toward Our Social Security System . They make a lot of Sophomore type errors. My file will always have a False letter Stating I missed an Appointment set for Me by a Federal Judge. No One really cares enough to correct it. You might say It's On My Permanent Record.

Unfortunately just not very helpful and a waste of time for 99% of cases, unless you're being evicted then they "may" be able to represent you. They can only give basic advice (usually nothing) and refer you to other resources. My first case manager, Priscilla, who helped regarding unfair move-out charges, was very friendly and compassionate. When she didn't know the answer to something, I could tell she really would spend the time to research and try to be as helpful as possible. Although there wasn't a lot she could do, she did refer me to a couple helpful resources I was not aware of. My second advisor, Brittany, was very apathetic, unhelpful, and didn't know anything at all.

I spent two and a half months trying to straighten out my prescription plan with MediCal, no one outside the government could see all the programs I was active with, one third of my fifteen meds were no longer covered. Tatianna Rambert of Legal Aid fixed it in three calls over two days. Best of all, the meds I couldn't get all this time were immediately given to me. Tatianna and Legal Aid were lifesavers!

After my private lawyer strung my case along for YEARS with nothing being resolved AT ALL and bleeding my bank dry... I was able to get a lawyer from the legal aid society. I can't say enough how compassionate and wonderful the experience has been. They listen and are advocates during a stressful and horrible time. I'm grateful for this service 🙏 Attorney Walsh and his team are top notch !

Wort advice a case manager has ever provided. All she did was read a legal document and call that advice. I can read. Why do I need you to read what I've already read?

They don't help or approve anyone, not even people with disabilities. Find an actual lawyer that can help you, not customer service that reads you story time.

Case manager claims they don't take landlord disputes & eviction. Avoid wasting your time. Their website is nothing but lies! Case manager clearly had zero law experience. Unsure why she has a job here.

No compassion, no empathy, & CM has no law knowledge. Google is a better resource.

Well, they were fantastic & exceeded my expectations. I'd seen reviews which reflected differently but I think people must remember that they don't give legal advice. They did provide everything I needed to make the choices myself & I feel so much more at ease tonight than I did before went in today. I imagine it's a very challenging job & they're not meeting us at our best but I was also impressed by the positive vibe. I may have lucked out because any waiting time, for me, was not long either . You'll check in by getting in line first. I was 4th in line & waited maybe 20 minutes! . Once called up to the window I the I was walked through the entire process that would, next , involve waiting for them to call me up to have my one one meeting with an aid. It's vital to standby & wait inside the building. If they can't get you by the announcement then they would call but that didn't apply to me and that wait went fast too. I received my legal assistance from Vivienne who was excellent & took her time with me to be sure everything was done thoroughly. I encourage everyone to go in prepared & do remember this service is completely free of charge & to have reasonable expectations. You've got this too!
