If you are representing yourself in a legal matter, they don't disclose to you that they will charge NON-REFUNDABLE fees and retainers that they don't charge attorneys. I asked for all fees for a pro se defendant and was not given additional fees. Now, I have attached what I was sent when I went to schedule it....I won't be using this firm as a result of such unprofessional practices.

This was from Magna Legal Services:

Please take note that we are charging a non-refundable $500 deposit that covers the cost and time associated with obtaining a resource and scheduling your job. In addition, we will be charging a $1500.00 deposit for this job to move forward, and these funds will then be applied to the actual billing for the transcription. Should the services be cancelled or any amount due to you after the fact, we will place those funds back on your card.
