Captain Thomas G* sent me away without assistance and provided false information. I asked for help to get my ID card renewed and was needing a sponsors command contacted to have the required documents filled out. He told me I didn't need anything to renew my military ID as a spouse because his "wife just renewed hers and she didn't need anything." I stated several times that wasn't the case and he refused to assist other than "checking into it." It explicitly states on the DEERS site that a POA with signature of sponsor and notary is required for ALL branches to renew an ID card. He also stated I would be more effective as a civilian to contact the service members command myself instead of a letter coming from an on base attorney for another matter that is well within the responsibilities of a military attorney to assist with. The issue I requested help with is a very common problem and an option on the intake form in the office he represents. Why offer to help with a very specific common issue and then refuse to provide it? I am incredibly disappointed.
