I retired from Mountain Home Air Force Base in 2019 after 20+ years of service. I have been very happy with my retirement here. The on-base housing is great, the medical care is excellent, and the community is very supportive.

I would highly recommend Mountain Home Air Force Base to anyone who is considering retiring from the military. It is a great place to live and work.

I loved serving there as my third base. SEPT 2012- JAN 2015. I Love my outdoors did lots of fishing had fun go on mountain hikes and went hunting. The views are astounding. I don't know to many places where you can get a mountainous bedroom view of the snow capped mountains. I miss Idaho bad. Its pretty laid back when people get to know you.Would love to move back to Idaho. Make the best of it while you can.

Nice base, has all you need, it has a great guard staff who were very helpful to me and my mom. We went to the sagebrush and it was way late and after hours but we were helped out. Make sure you get your food before you get there, because it is a bit of a drive to town.

Other than the fact it is literally in the middle of nowhere and not far from a Simplot farm which smells like literal BS, one of the best bases. Nice community, has all the essentials one needs and as we have all seen in the past few weeks, security that knows how to do their job. On a base with billions of dollars in equipment it is good to know that it and the personal are protected.

My first base from 1988 - 1990, loved it there. Fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, what more could you ask for. Trinity mountain campground and Featherville are fantastic destinations if you want to be in the midst of the mountains. Great area to raise children.
