Chose this firm for an ugly custody battle. Billie Jo was the attorney used. She would charge upwards to $3,000 every month when seemingly NO work was being done. She appeared once. She would say things like “I researched this while I was off but don’t worry I won’t charge”. The law firm would charge our account without any warning. She also failed to provide a receipt of you will each month with what we were charged with. Upwards to $20,000.00 in and she still requested $6,000.00 more to “get through” mediation. I would believe every person who rated this firm as a “one” star. They are secretive, they are scammers, and they are money hungry.

Be warned, they lie about pricing to get you in, they charge you a lot at the end.

Billie Jo was my attorney for my child custody case. She did a great job at being attentive and thorough with the case. I switched from another lawyer who was not attentive or thorough at all.

Billie Jo charged me for motions she put in, to request the CFI to appear in court. Then she changed her mind and decided not to have the CFI, which hurt my case because there were debates about the wording and what the CFI was trying to say and it got twisted.

However when I first spoke to her about my case she said she could of did the entire case for around $5,000.

I decided to give her a shot and put down a $3,000 retainer. That only covered up until 2 weeks prior to my case and was asked for another $3,000, I then asked Billie Jo how much more this was going to cost and she assured me that the $3,000 would be more than enough.

However after my case was finished, Billie Jo had to finish submitting the ruling and charged me another $5,000. That accrued within 2 weeks. Which I needed a little time to pay. And made a payment the next week. Then the next week the firm decided to charge my card with out notifying me. They also charged me an intrest of $53.98 and it wasn't even a month late.

Billie Jo did not give a thorough explanation when asked on how $5,000 was used up in as little as 2 weeks and shrugged me off to the billing department.

They spammed me over and over again for payments, even on Easter holiday.
Howard from billing was very rude when I asked for them to pull up the phone conversations with me and Billie Jo to prove that she said it wouldn't cost more then the additional $3,000

Do not trust them when they tell you what a case will cost. It was a very sneaky, scammy, manipulative, and made me feel like I made the wrong decision in trusting them.

Billie Jo represented me to get my daughter relocated to my new address nearer my fiancé and for school placement. She was thorough in gaining insight to my circumstances, very communicative in the whole process, strategic in her approach, detailed in all aspects of what turned out to be three court actions, proactive in every step and professional to opposing counsel and the court system. I whole heartedly endorse her and if necessary would use her again.

I am rating this firm 1 star because after almost a year and over $30,000 in fees, they offered me nothing but unbelievable charges to revised documents, to say your staff is incompetent to get the documents right the first time, instead I am billed several different time for revisions. Not to mention the numerous billings for emails, if you are to reply "ok and thank you!" You will be billed about $85 each time. This is a clear example why people do not trust lawyers. They are unethical to say the least! If you make six figures a year and want to throw away your money then by all means hire this firm, but if you are a normal guy who is fighting to see his kids the only thing this firm will do for you is bleed you dry. You will be broke before you ever see your kids again. This firm is not made of compassionate people who want to help you. All they care about is billable hours!

If I could rate Ms. Sowinski with 10 stars I would! She was recommended to me by a close friend and from day one I felt my panic and anxiety lifting. There were many complex layers in my divorce case and Ms. Sowinski walked/talked me through every step and part of the process. She fought hard, fairly, and meticulously. She possesses a deep knowledge of domestic case law - backwards and forwards! Not to mention she seemed to always be one step ahead of my ex's attorney. Even the judge we were in front of was clearly very impressed with her; her legal arguments were calm, direct, always tied to case law and delivered with a natural confidence of someone who simply knows they are great at what they do. Aside from the edible arrangement I sent - I don't know how to truly thank her for the best possible outcome she gave to me and my children. Highly recommend.
