I have received multiple communications from Philip Lee LLP which I believe to be highly misleading in favour of a wrong position being held by a large corporate client of that firm which is a public body.

These communications have included statements which appear to be demonstrably objectively wrong.

The communications in question were made directly to me on Philip Lee notepaper. They were couched as conveying the correct legal position, rather than as conveying the position of the client.

Remarkably, FOI has revealed that Philip Lee actually provided undisclosed legal advice to the client in 2018 that they were in the wrong. The client subsequently maintained their position, informing me that they were doing so following receipt of legal advice!! This appears to amount to devious maladministration off the scale which most people could contemplate as possible in a public body.

Philip Lee subsequently continued to try to convince me that their client’s position is correct.

Complaints to Jonathan Kelly, to Philip Lee and to the relevant partner have drawn no response, and Philip Lee are now blocking emails from me. Their client is also not responding or acknowledging correspondence, apparently as part of a formal “protocol” (FOI) conveyed to relevant people and apparently based on legal advice, although the matter is one of trust requiring good faith engagement with full transparency. The “protocol” includes correspondence to the CEO not being acknowledged or being brought to his attention (FOI)!

Unfortunately not a good review. I spoke to Patrick Egan in regard to some legal business. At first he did not respond to e-mails. Once I did receive an e-mail back after a week or so he said he would be back to me in few days. Never heard a thing since and that was 6 weeks ago.
