For my particular situation no advice was allowed. The person stated that I best call the legal aide society . Interesting, because it was the legal aide who referred me to them from the start of this call. It's like a shell game. They go into work but they don't want to help or assist the people who are in the most need of their help. Disgraceful to say the least.

The rudest most unprofessional customer service/initial point of contact I have ever come into contact with. I called earlier to ask about support for one issue that could not be serviced through this program. Great. I totally understand that and respect that. If nothing can be done, that is just a part of life and out of my control. Unfortunately, the service I mentioned had more than one part to it. There are three orphan kids now seeking legal representation/advice. This was the second part of what I was calling about when seeking support. I called back a few hours later, hoping to be connected to someone who can help with the now orphan kids and their immigration dilemma. The same man answered the phone, scolded me with an insane amount of attitude because I called earlier (even though I wasn't even given the opportunity to explain the reason for my call this time and that it was a totally different issue/request) and then hung up on me. It is actually so sad that one of the few free resources to the people of Queens allows someone with such attitude, arrogance, and lack of empathy to be the first point of contact in what is almost always such a stressful process. I'm am genuinely disgusted with whoever this person is. They should be ashamed and embarrassed of themselves

update - response to responder - no, my review isn't bc you couldn't help me because i was seeking advice. it's because the person on the phone's manner was rude and dismissive from the second he called, as the other reviewers mentioned. I 100% don't mind that what I was seeking is beyond the scope of what you do. I do mind when someone calls and is unprofessional. Take note of all the reviews that comment how rude the person is who works there and work on that person's phone skills. "Hi, this is X, I am calling from X services, I am an intake person and lawyer, how can we help?" Would be nice. Basic, professional phone manners. If you read my review, you wouldn't conflate the reason why I gave a bad review. It's not because you can't help. You also metioned you can't take time to answer so many questions. I literally said two sentences, I didn't ask a bunch of questions. it doesn't take "extra time" to have basic phone manners or to identify yourself in a professional, kind way when you call.

I called to ask a few questions. you get vm. the person who called me back was incredibly rude and unprofessional and in a word, sounded exasperated from the moment he spoke. He didn't have the manners to identify his name or his position when he called, just the org he is with, and when I asked if he was a lawer he repeated his organization name, and I said that I didn't know if he was a lawyer or intake person. He sounded annoyed and said I'm both, maam. He didn't say anything about his services, and immediately told me to call another group when I told him a 2 sentence summary of what I have questions about. His tone, from start to finish, was one of just pure exasperation - not based on anything I said. Have you ever met anyone who just despises their own job? That's what this person sounds like. Now I see all the one star reviews and assume everyone deals with this person. If you're going to hate dealing with people, then...get another job?

I literally called with questions about a case this man answered the phone with so much attitude. He didn't have no patience and was very disgusting cutting me off and not wanting to hear the phone call. Lawyers are some of the most disrespectful ppl and a very slim few are actually trying to help people understand thier situation and actuallu provide fair representation. @12pm 6/15/23 this individual needs to know / learn proper phone etiquette as well as finding a new field of work If he is so miserable. Especially after getting my earlier phone call mixed up with someone else and yelling at me wrong information that had nothing to do with out previous conversation. Finally after asking him why was he so upset as I just called to seek guidance he decided to hang up the phone on me to verfiy is very unprofessional manner. Not to mention he tells me they don't deal with consumer law even tho it's all over their websites...

Just called 6 minutes ago.I had some questions about an uncontested divorceTheForm was filled out incorrectly It appeared that the person had filed the twice once in Queens County and once in Kings CountyICouldn't get the simplest of questions answered. The person who answered the phone was extremely rude he constantly have spoke over meHe interrupted me as I was asking him a question just to get my name and numberAnd then once he had that information he proceeded to ask me what was my call about. Ok that was weird. So the conversation continues with him just talking over me he wasn't really allowing me to say much as I constantly had to stop speaking to allow him to talk. In the end I endes up hanging up in his face because I just couldnt take the rudeness anymore just because the service that's being provided is free does not give you the right to treat people any kind of way. If he doesnt wanna work he needs to go home. Tried to call back to file a complaint and hes now refusing to pick up the phone and sending it to voicemail will call back tomorrow to file a complaint..i have time.

When I contacted this office the gentlemen that answered the telephone was very rude and sounded like he did not want to help at all. Very bad tone and vibe. I asked the gentlemen to explain to me what they do to help people and he answered "service queens...!" When you cant even tell someone what you do that is already a bad sign. If you are not happy with your position you must find another.

As response to below response: You are talking about the wrong person. This must have been someone else that had an issue with your services... My case was not a " Civil Assault Case" it was a divorce case. I was able to find a solution to my matter at the supreme court. Thank you anyway!

Not really helpful. When calling the intake person don't let you finish asking your questions in its entirety. They cut you off extremely quick and tell you what they think you are about to say/ask them, and often say that at the moment they're not taking most of the cases they have advertise on their website. They will usually give you referrals to outside sources/law firms that leads you to either the runaround or nowhere. It seems like law firms pay them to be listed for referrals (I don't know this to be fact, but it really appears that way given their repeated actions). Sadly I've had more success doing law research online via nolo and other similar sites than I've ever had calling queens Volunteers Lawyers Project, Queens bar association, or any other similar law "Referral" service.
